The mechanical property of wire rod is influenced by composition and cooling speed in the Stelmor cooling process. Although composition range is controllable, the variation affects the mechanical property, especially for composition near specific limit. In the past, engineers had to artificially adjust cooling speed to stabilize the mechanical property. CSC establishes Composition Strength Index to evaluate the correlation between composition and tensile strength. Through the evaluation, the dynamic cooling process makes the tensile strength of composition near upper specification limit compelled with customer’s requirement, reducing from 134kg/mm2 to 126 kg/mm2. CSC combines it with logical control system, and develops dynamic cooling process control technology.
