Tracks: Project Planning & Execution

This paper outlines the experiences collected during planning, designing, manufacturing, execution and start-up of new greenfield state-of-the-art special steelmaking plants from raw material to casted products. One single supplier was responsible for the entire process route, including principle design, optimal material flow and logistics, with reduced interfaces and related coordination efforts. The discussion includes process equipment required to fulfill superior product quality aspects and minimum operational expenditures; equipment technological features, melting and casting technology; quality achievements by automation; tchnology transfer; practical experiences; and project management, supply chain management, manufacturing and start-up supervision.
