Today, success is not determined by the resources that we control, but those resources that we can access. More and more, we do not own resources and capabilities. Our accomplishments depend on our access to information, technology and talent. Collaboration is the next competitive advantage. Collaboration brings people together to collaborate on a shared goal or purpose. The shift is away from “knowledge workers” to “relationship workers.” Collaboration is needed with utilities and energy, particularly energy conservation and savings. Technology, markets, energy products, fuels, prices and ROI change. Implementation of energy-saving ideas, renewable energy, and energy conservation requires cross-functional collaboration among end-users, government, utilities and suppliers.
