CSN’s modernization of its temper mill, including new level 1 and level 2 automation, has been recently completed. The modernization was accomplished over a compressed time schedule following the untimely demise of the existing automation. CSN took this opportunity to add functionality to the temper mill to both increase its versatility and expand its production role. The paper will discuss the project background, scope, implementation and results.
