Collection main pressure control is a critical application in cokemaking. Gases generated during charging create pressure surges, requiring accurate positioning of the crossover valve to maintain the collection main pressure setpoint. REXA's patented hydraulic actuation technology is able to react (3–5 Hz) to small, constantly varying changes in control signal with a repeatability of <0.1% travel position. A steel producer in Europe has improved pressure control while also reducing maintenance costs. The rotary unit mounts directly to the valve, eliminating linkages that increase deadband. The results are unique in that the REXA can maintain setpoint ±1 MMWC pressure.
