Primetals, as one of the market leaders in steel plant engineering, is also a supplier of steelmaking technology. During the start-up and plant assistance phase, Primetals has the possibility to acquire a very heterogonous amount of metallurgical data. This paper analyzes this metallurgical database related to different vacuum plants, like VD or RH, and explains the different approaches to steelmaking of different plants. Plant metallurgical results are presented in accordance with the plant mechanical performances. The paper also analyzes possible trends of future steelmaking technology.
