Greasing and protector/coupling on tubes: a robot cell application (Room 202B)

This paper presents a case history of the realization of the new premium line handling 31 (threading line 1, threading line 2, buffer area, finishing area, dispatch area) for an important pipe mill in Mexico. More than 14 robotic solutions were implemented that automatically manage the following activities: brushing and cleaning of tube before marking, tube marking, character recognition, coupling pre-screwing and protector screwing. The implementation increases productivity and reduces costs toward tube mills 4.0.
