Accurate and reliable Automatic Probe Changer (APC) system is a critical tool to be added to any automatic manipulator for temperature measurement and sampling at the EAF, LF, VD or Caster.
Traditionally, operators rely on procedures to manually change sample or measurement probe for the automatic tools; however, this process is high risk due to environmental hazards. MTUS’ APC uses an innovative system to automatically remove old probe/replace with a new probe within seconds without operator intervention.
This paper will summarize the APC implementation at multiple facilities, including technical details and operational results and how it increases productivity and safety.
