This LI will focus on developing a rationale and approach to diagnosis in harmony with the revised CACREP 2016 Standards through an introduction to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. The presenters will focus on cross-cutting symptom measures emphasizing practical utility. Attendees will develop a pragmatic, ethical, and culturally competent approach to assessment and diagnosis while maintaining sound clinical practice and client outcomes. Implications for counselor preparation also will be emphasized.
