This full day adventure will introduce you to the history and culture of Kansas City.

The first stop in the full day tour is Union Station. Built in 1914, the station features 850,000 square feet of amazing space that originally featured 900 rooms. In its prime as a working train station, the station accommodated hundreds of thousands of passengers each year. Stories of farewells, reunions and of day-to-day vibrancy still echo in her walls.

After exploring Union Station you will venture to Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio. Visiting the home and studio of the renowned painter, sculptor, lecturer and writer offers a glimpse into how the talented artist lived and worked. Benton converted half of the carriage house into his art studio, which remains as he left it. You can still see coffee cans full of paintbrushes, numerous paints, and a stretched canvas waiting to be transformed into another of his masterpieces.

After touring the studio, it is time to sit down for a delicious lunch at Lidia’s Italy in the Freight House District. Occupying a former railroad house, Lidia’s shares the warmth of an old Italian farmhouse.

The final stop is the Harry Truman Library. In addition to visiting the library, you can view Old Independence Square and Courthouse where Harry’s office as county judgewas located in 1933, and the “Summer White House” of Harry and Bess Truman.
