Basic Public Information Officer Course

This 16 hour course is designed for aspiring, new or less experienced public information officers (PIO) and focuses on the essential emergency PIO functions. This course will teach PIOs how to write a news release, conduct an on camera interview and prepare for an awareness campaign. Prerequisite includes completion of the FEMA IS-29 Public Information Officer Awareness Course which can be found and taken online. This is certification program.
