Seen from the eyes of those in the trenches, this program will discuss the challenges specific to emergency response during civil unrest and will describe the modifications made to emergency response dispatch and treatment protocols necessary to survive the incident. The presenters will review the strategies used for patient and provider safety and outline the plans for the preparation and mitigation of future incidents. The discussion will focus on data and call volume, operational periods, mutual aid, logistical and safety challenges, interagency communications, medical response, surge capacity, response plans, future directions and lessons learned. This program may be used for EMS continuing education units.
