Indoor Drone Localization Using Ultra Wideband (UWB) Ranging & Communications (Room Executive Ballroom G)

22 Jun 16
10:20 AM - 11:00 AM

Tracks: Wireless

Ultra Wideband (UWB) sensors enable precise localization indoors and in other venues where GNSS doesn’t work, a key requirement for safe and effective use of mobile robots. This session will feature a demonstration of a 3D localization system targeted at drones, followed by a discussion of the enabling sensors and software. ATTENDEE BENEFITS & TAKEAWAYS: - Attendees will get a real-time sense of the setup process and the accuracy, update rate, and coverage volume attainable by such systems - Learn about the underlying ranging, network, and navigation processes in detail, including potential error sources due to survey misalignment, range measurement jitter, and geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) - Learn about the scalability of such systems in the context of update rate and maximum coverage area
