Sensors Expo 2016

Sensor Fusion Approach to Precision Location and Tracking for First Responders (Room Executive Ballroom C)

22 Jun 16
1:50 PM - 2:30 PM

Tracks: MEMS & Sensors

This session will discuss design challenges for achieving few-meter accuracy in challenging GPS-denied environments. The First-Responder mission environment will be described, highlighting major technical hurdles, existing solutions, and areas of needed innovation. A full sensor-fused systems approach will be detailed, including Precision-Inertial-Sensors, Initialization-Sensors, Rugged-Communications-Links, and Key-Algorithmic-Elements, with data and maps describing results. ATTENDEE BENEFITS & TAKEAWAYS: - Attendee will learn details of the challenges in the First Responder Application, and why a full systems approach is important, and what the elements of that system are - Gain insight in to Sensor-Fusion techniques and the benefits over discrete sensing technologies - Assess sensor technologies for critical specifications, understand how to interpret varying specification approaches, and make tradeoffs at the system level
