The Use of Biodiversity in Aquatic Systems (Room North Convention Center)

02 Aug 16
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Tracks: School of Animal Wellness, Show Floor Talks

There is more to creating aquatic habitats than filtration, lighting and aqua-scaping.  While they are important, the concept of biodiversity will provide a truly inspiring display.  With an understanding of biodiversity your customers will understand the use of organisms and how they coexist to provide a healthy ecosystem.  This presentation will include
• The balance of nutrients and energy cycles between different life-forms and how this will control micro-algae
• Waste production and cycling pathways in a closed system and how this will keep pathogens lower
• Organism harmony between plants/algae (producers) and fish (consumers) and bacteria/protozoans (reducers)
The utilization of biodiversity will produce amazing results, make better aquarists and educate hobbyists alike.  Learn how you can help your customers see the possibilities of new products and animal choices they have never considered in the past.
