T101: Communicating the Value of Government to Congress and Citizens (Room Atrium Ballroom)

Some Americans view government, especially the federal government, as a problem—it is “too big,” “too expensive,” “too intrusive,” “too poorly led,” “the cause of many ills,” and “something to be tamed and controlled.”  This session features a conversation between two notable Americans in which they will reflect on how citizens have viewed the purpose and value of government throughout U.S. history, some of the cultural factors that have contributed to current levels of discord, and thoughts on how governments and their leaders can re-establish the value of government in the minds of a majority of citizens.
