(S11) Incontinence Associated Skin Damage (IASD): Innovative Approaches in Assessment, Prevention, and Education (Room 710 b)

07 Jun 16
7:00 AM - 8:30 AM

Supported by HARTMANN USA, Inc.

This session will examine innovative strategies for nursing care of the inflammatory skin damage resulting from incontinence. Participants will learn about a new instrument for assessing incontinence associated skin damage (IASD) on light to dark skin. They will review risk factors for IASD including the role of skin pH and apply that knowledge to guide prevention. The high risk group of older nursing home residents will be used as an exemplar. Advances in incontinence absorbent products aimed to prevent IASD will be highlighted. The session will introduce an interactive serious game to educate nursing staff about IASD and the important role played by the continence nurse specialist.

*This symposia session requires pre-registration to attend. Space is limited.*
