First published in 2012, the Harris Pilonidal Sinus Wound Protocol© for post-operative wounds has proven to be a successful method of management for many clinicians. Common mistakes in the care of pilonidal cysts, including missing the signs and symptoms of infection that are peculiar to this wound type, and an update of the Harris evidence based protocol for treatment will be described in order to increase the knowledge base of the learners and assist them in implementing appropriate care in practice.
