The energy released during an arc flash event can result in severe damage to personnel, equipment, and property. While there are solutions which seek to improve the protection for each, this program will focus on personnel. Providing better protection for electrical workers from arc flash hazards requires an understanding of the available arc energy reduction solutions and which are the best choices for a particular installation. Commercial installations with circuit breakers which are rated or can be adjusted to 1200 A or greater also need to consider if the solution provided meets the new requirements for arc energy reduction in the 2014 NEC.
