9:15 AM - 10:00 AM

Tracks: Blasters Training Seminar

A safe and optimal drilling and blasting operation requires the execution of multiple tasks performed by numerous people.  A safe and optimal blasting program demands that all these tasks be linked so that all parties involved are informed of any factors or conditions that affect their role in the process and the final blast outcomes.  Therefore, adequate communication among the various personnel within this process stream is necessary not only within a given tasks, but also across the various tasks from shot design to post-blast assessment. Several critical factors must be incorporated into any communication plan developed for a specific operation. These include: chain of information control, verification of information, and compilation and analysis. Each factor should be customized to the specific abilities and needs of the operation. The characteristics of a well-organized communication plan will be presented with the intent of guiding students in the development of their own communication approach.
