Hazards of Dynamic Pressures on Electronic Detonator Systems (Room Concorde A)

30 Jan 16
3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Tracks: Blasters Training Seminar

Electronic detonator systems have often been used in the last two decades. With more usage, there are more situations when electronic detonator systems could fail. Even with more types of applications, there are more situations when electronic detonator system could fail. The paper will describe all situations where there can be a risk of failing electronic detonator systems due to effects of dynamic pressures. It will also describe indications of failure due to dynamic pressures; how to measure dynamic pressures; what is happening inside electronic detonator systems during blast initiation phase; look of electric and nonelectric detonator systems affected by dynamic pressures; look of electronic detonator systems affected by dynamic pressures; describe the effects of dynamic pressures on electronic detonator system; the possibilities of how to protect electronic detonator systems against dynamic pressures; how to avoid damage of electronic detonator system by dynamic pressures; describe solving the misfires of electronic detonator systems caused by dynamic pressures. The paper will be start with theories, laboratory testing and studies and continue with field information, field testing, field measurement, field observations.
