2015 INSS: Intelligence & National Security Summit

The State of National Intelligence (Room Ballroom A)

The “Big Six” national intelligence agencies steward the lion’s share of taxpayer investment in U.S. intelligence capability and are responsible for using that investment to ensure the health of intelligence collection disciplines and all-source analysis.  They are also responsible—together with their other Intelligence partners-- for ensuring that the Intelligence Community is more than the sum of its individual parts and functions as an effective whole in defense of the nation.  In this session the leaders of the “Big Six” agencies will discuss the state of the individual agencies they lead, as well as how they are working together to ensure the health of the whole of the IC both today and in the future.

Focus Questions:

In your view, what are the greatest national security threats we will face in the next 20 years and how should the American public think about your role in countering those threats?

What is the most important investment in capability that you will make during your tenure?

How do you assess your agency’s use of non-intelligence sources—particularly open source information—in carrying out its mission?
