2015 INSS: Intelligence & National Security Summit

Hunting, Detecting, and Responding to Bad-Guys on Your Networks (Room Salon I)

Aggressive adversaries are launching targeted attacks against public and private sector computer networks with increased frequency, threatening economic and national security. It is clear that the traditional approaches of passive defense and "vulnerability reduction" are not sufficient for countering the growing threat.  In this session thought leaders from the public and private sectors will discuss a threat mitigation paradigm shift based on actionable intelligence and detection, and how this approach turns the tables on the adversaries by raising both cost and risk to them.

Focus Questions:

If you accept that "Defense in Depth," alone is failing against the most sophisticated adversaries in our networks, how do we move to the next level of protection and detection?

What are the key constructs for moving from defense at the perimeter of our networks to “hunting” within them?

How can organizations incorporate fundamental intelligence processes and procedures into their “hunting & prevention” strategies?
