2015 Global Identity Summit

Training: Biographic Technologies (Room 20/21)

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Tracks: Landfills

Biographic matching technologies have been used in a wide variety of government and private sector applications and workflows for decades, many of these involving high-security use cases.  Nonetheless, they have traditionally not been part of the purview of the Global Identity Summit, formerly known as the “Biometric Consortium Conference”.  This tutorial will introduce participants to biographic matching technologies, including the broad range of uses for these technologies, how they complement biometric technologies, and challenges in implementing biographic matching.  The discussion will also cover a methodology and metrics for evaluation of the effectiveness of biographic identity matching technologies.

Attendees to this session should be furnished with the ability to answer questions such as the following:
- Compare and contrast types of biographic identity information with types of biometric and behavioral identity information, and discuss use cases for which each type of identity information is appropriate.
- Explain at least three challenges in the successful design, implementation, or deployment of biographic technologies.
- Apply or understand the application of appropriate evaluation metrics to quantify differences in performance of competing biographic matching solutions.
-Justify or understand justification of selection of biographic matching technologies for a particular use case with respect to performance on these metrics.
