The Chief Counselor for Privacy under President Obama, Peter Swire is the only person to date to have U.S. government-wide responsibility for privacy policy. This keynote will provide historical context for critical issues of identification and authentication for the U.S. government, including the role of changing information technology in the best legal and policy approaches to these issues. Drawing on a blend of history, technology, policy, and law, Professor Swire will show what is at stake as federal agencies update their systems and policies to shape identity in our pervasively digital age.
