Love it or hate it, behavior-based safety has become entrenched in the EHS landscape. Still, some safety professionals point out that what many people think of as BBS is broken or doesn’t work. These are the processes that are isolated from other safety systems, are done under duress, exclude key players like managers or supervisors, or overreach realistic objectives. So why does BBS have this reputation and remain popular? What do successful BBS users know, and what do those on the fence need to know? This session explores what happened to undermine BBS, why it is still viable, and how we need to think about it to drive real improvement.
