As the vision for the future grid is to transform it into a set of interacting clusters of microgrids, developing standard controller design approaches and establishing a set of streamlined test procedures will become extremely important. This panel provides an update on the status of IEEE working groups 2030.7 and 2030.8 on development of standards for microgrid controller and testing procedures, as well as reporting by industry and utility experts on development and laboratory/field testing of commercial and prototype microgrid controllers.
