Mentoring Professional Women in Counseling: One Path Toward Leadership

Gender differences play an important part in our development as professional counselors and counselor educators. Women may have different mentoring needs, based on those gender differences that also incorporate societal prejudices. Often, mentoring women presents complicated challenges, involving multiple levels of care – personal, professional, and educational/career. Within a relational framework, strategies for professional women to gain self-confidence, stature, career and personal success, and ultimately, meaningful leadership experiences will be discussed.
