This session covers current methods for programming new or updating existing electronic control modules in various manufacturer vehicles, and looks at methods and tools available to the aftermarket for programming, including GM service programming along with other J2534 service programming for other OEs. Vehicle manufacturer websites will also be discussed as well as the tools and resources necessary for reprogramming electronic control modules.

Attendees will learn:

  • Why service programming is necessary.
  • How to identify the different methods of GM service programming and J2534 methods for all makes service programming.
  • How to identify the difference between module programming and module set-up.
  • The service precautions necessary when programming a module.
