After this session, participants will be able to: 1) evaluate any barriers at their facility to preparing/maintaining vocabularies and identify the next step to overcome them; 2) communicate local issues with healthcare provider systems and propose solutions; 3) explain how the laboratory can contribute to improved laboratory test utilization, improved patient safety, decreases in errors, reduction in health care cost, and reduction of length of stay through participation in Meaningful Use initiatives; and 4) justify laboratorians’ inclusion and participation in Meaningful Use initiatives.
