Tracks: Biomarkers, Cancer, Emerging Technology, Molecular Diagnostics, Patient Safety, Personalized Medicine, Pharmacogenomics, Testing Methods, Utilization

After this session, participants will be able to: 1) define how tumor cells can be genotyped and how this information can be used to select the most effective and less harmful treatments; 2) explain how whole genome sequencing can help with pharmacogenomics (how a person’s genes affect the body responses to specific drugs); and 3) integrate the future direction of personalized medicine in standard practice using tumor targeted therapies against molecules that harbor genetic alterations.
