Case Study Approach to Differentiate Type 2 Supply Demand MI From Type 1 Ischemic MI: Role of High Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin Assays-32211 (Room Georgia World Congress Center - B303 & B304)

27 Jul 15
2:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Tracks: Biomarkers, Cardiovascular Disease, Consultative Clinical Chemistry, Critical Care, Utilization

After this session, participants will be able to: 1) understand that cTn is a biomarker used to detect myocardial injury; 2) apply how hs-cTn assays are appropriately utilized in the differential diagnosis of type 2 supply demand MI from type 1 ischemia MI; 3) explain how cTn defines normality and cardiac injury based on sex-defined 99th percentile values; and 4) define a frame-work for establishing hs-cTn assays into laboratories for clinical practice.
