President's Invited Session: Waking Up the General Public to the Importance of Laboratory Tests, Using Effective Story Telling (Including the Story of Caring for Ebola Patients at Emory University)-32210 (Room Georgia World Congress Center - B312)

After this session, participants will be able to: 1) describe why storytelling is a more effective narrative form than descriptions, examples, anecdotes, and case studies; 2) outline the steps in capturing a story; 3) demonstrate how to construct a compelling story to promote long-term memorability; 4) identify situations in the workplace where storytelling can be applied as a strategy; 5) create local and regional speaking opportunities for promotion of the profession to the lay public; and 6) articulate how the laboratory made a key difference in the care of Ebola patients in the United States.
