After this session, participants will be able to: 1) explain how genetic information informs investigation of physiologic mechanisms of disease; 2) explain the role of loss-of-function alleles in disease mechanisms; and 3) explain how therapeutic reduction of PCSK9 affects LDL-cholesterol metabolism in the liver and reduces risk for heart disease.
