This study examined the type and morphology of inclusions after controlled reoxidation. Laboratory heats were deoxidized with 0.1 wt% Al, Ca treated, and reoxidized. Samples were taken at various points after the different additions were made. Automated SEM/EDS microanalysis was used to analyze the inclusions detected on polished cross sections. Reoxidation led to formation of predominately spinels (100 ppm O) or alumina inclusions (500 ppm O). The chemistry distribution shifted back towards spinel with time. Observations of inclusion chemistry changes and morphology changes were used to identify the mass transfer phenomena occurring during and after reoxidation.
