As production demands increase for advanced high strength steel (AHSS), steel manufacturers face short production capacity of pickling lines. Primetals Technologies Japan Ltd. (PTJ) has proposed the iBox pickling tank to improve production capacity, save energy and provide ease of maintenance. Since the iBox pickling process needs storage tanks filled with acid solution to reduce over-pickling at line stop, a wider space for them is required. To reduce the necessary space, PTJ has proposed a new and unique configuration of the iBox pickling tank as a revamp from the deep bath tank.
