Successful Applications of the Off-Line Computer Models for Rolling Mills (Room 306)

The article describes the basic features of three off-line computer models developed by the International Rolling Mill Consultants, Inc, jointly with United Engineering Company (currently Danieli United, Inc.). Included in the article are examples of successful applications of these models for the following cases: (1) The most economical design of both new and modernized hot strip mills, (2) Expedient solving of startup problems, (3) The design of the first three rolling mills for rolling of the superalloy plate and strip coils, (4) The design of the first fully hydraulic AGC for both plate and hot strip mills, (5) Solving the strip profile and flatness problems.
