Application of Oil-Air Lubrication System to JFE Chiba No. 3 Hot Strip Mill (Room 306)

JFE Steel Chiba No. 3 hot strip mill (HSM) started its operation in 1995, and the mill has some features such as endless rolling and direct hot charge rolling. The runout table adopted the oil-air lubrication system, and that is running with no trouble and no roll exchange since its start-up 20 years ago. The finishing mill feed roll was frequently troubled by bearings. As a countermeasure, its lubricaion system has improved from grease to oil-air. As a result, it is running with no trouble. Oil-air lubrication is very effective in maintenance of the HSM.
