EAF Raw Materials & DRI
Due to high fluctuation in price and availability of scrap and its substitutes, modern electric arc furnace have to be highly flexible on their charge mix.
Primetals Technologies designs EAFs for hot and cold DRI input up to 100%. With a special tapping design the furnace can be operated continuously with minimum power off time. Existing installations can be revamped to allow DRI or HBI feeding through the 5th hole.
Hot metal charging can be done via a launder through the slag door of the EAF A wide range of scrap / hot metal ratios can be used.
