On May 6, 2015 the FAA announced the UAS Focus Area Pathfinders initiative, a partnership with industry to explore the next steps in unmanned aircraft operations. Focus areas for the projects include:

Visual line-of-sight operations in urban areas
Extended visual line-of-sight operations in rural areas
Beyond visual line-of-sight in rural/isolated areas
Detection of UAS in the vicinity of airports

This panel session provides a forum for the organizations involved with each project to deliver updates, progress and future efforts in their specific areas of research.
