SATCOM for Unmanned Aircraft Systems A new generation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) are capable of long endurance flight time, which enables beyond line-of-sight operations. Satellite communications are an essential component for these operations, supporting broadband communications and the transfer of intelligence, surveillance and mission critical data. This session will discuss the benefits of SATCOM for UAS missions, the various SATCOM payloads and network architectures. We will also examine the latest technology advances for enabling UAS BLoS satellite communications, including low-profile antenna technologies, terminal integration and BUCS. Learning points: 1. Understand the special SATCOM requirements of UAS platforms 2. Understand the importance and critical benefits of integrated solutions 3. Learn about example implementations
