The Future of Seafood: Innovations Creating a More Sustainable Supply (Room Baltimore Convention Center, Room 303)

Confused about sustainable seafood? You’re not alone. Nutritionists recommend that we regularly eat fish for improved heart health, but environmentalists say exactly the opposite—that overfishing has devastating impacts on ocean communities and their habitat. And while supply chain transparency has radically improved for commodity crops like coffee, chocolate, sugar, and grains, the seafood industry is still rife in mislabeling.

During this session, a panel of experts ranging from manufacturers to sustainability experts will explore smart and effective business models that can build ethical seafood economies, examine the new technologies allowing seafood brands to achieve traceability, and provide down-and-dirty tips to source consciously and educate your consumers on sustainable seafood buying.
