Organized and hosted by the MEMS Industry Group (MIG), a trade association focused on advancing MEMS and sensors across global markets, this one-day Pre-Conference Symposium will discuss the benefits of smart sensor fusion. Smart sensor fusion has the ability to turn data from several sensors into information for the purpose of improving application or system performance, thereby creating a “smart system.” In this Symposium, attendees will get a detailed insight into the MEMS/sensors industry’s perspective on what sensor fusion is, how it applies to different markets/applications, as well as the challenges and opportunities for success, both today and into the future. Case studies of sensor fusion including consumer, health/wellness as well as automotive, and industrial, will be presented. Discussions will touch upon how these applications are feeding into and enabling not only smart systems but also a smart Internet of Things. This Symposium will also cover topics including low power/battery life, small form factors, flexible electronics, and new MEMS/sensors needed to enable smart systems. MIG will also update attendees on its work advancing MEMS/sensors standardization, testing protocols and the Accelerated Innovation Community (AIC) - the first-ever open-source algorithm library for sensor fusion.
