Sensors Expo 2015

Function, Flexibility, and Efficiency are Key Success Factors for Energy Harvested Wearables (Room 101 B)

Tracks: Energy Harvesting for Wireless Sensor Networks

To be successful, wearable devices need to be a constant part of the wearer’s daily routine. Rechargeable batteries are disruptive, since the device must be removed often for charging. Primary batteries offer more consistent solution, but can fail at inopportune times. The ideal wearable power source would be a continuous flow of harvested energy.

In this session, attendees will learn about the various components, functions and requirements of an Energy Harvesting Power Management circuit and why each is needed in order to provide consistent performance and maximal energy conservation. Real-life energy harvesting scenarios will be examined. Energy harvesting, consumption, and management will be explored for both wearable and Internet of Things applications.
