Changing dynamics in health care continue to change the role and utilization of Allied Health Providers in patients care. The purpose of this section is to advance the understanding of the medical staff on how Allied Health Providers can be utilized in spine care. At the conclusion of this section attendants will have a working knowledge on how allied health providers benefit patient care, improve patient satisfaction, improve medical staff quality of life, and revenue generation.

Upon completion of this session, participants should gain strategies to:

  • Review the medical literature on advantages to patients when Allied Health Providers are utilize in spine care;
  • Consider the question, “should I hire a PA or NP, and how should I utilize them?”
  • Understand how to best utilize an allied health provider in patient care, office, operative or hospital-based settings;
  • Review billing and reimbursement for Allied Health Providers in spine care.
