Commissioning 2.0: Remote Assistance for Commissioning in Critical Areas (Room G105, Auditorium Centre, First Floor)

Ansaldo Energia, by means of its controlled company Ansaldo Sviluppo Energia, is continuously pursuing renewal achievements introducing new techniques in several areas of its activities. One of these renewal goals regards the adoption of a special equipment for remote assistance (the Smart Powerful Eye, SPE) in order to support from remote several kinds of operations on site, such as installation, commissioning and check of work progress on power plant. The SPE system is mainly useful in critical geographical areas, both reducing the personnel on site and shortening the intervention time. The SPE system allows a single expert to solve multiple situations in the same day, independently from the geographical location. He can assist the technician on site throughout a full audio/video interaction, in a more effective way than by means of traditional communication tools. One of the main characteristics of the SPE system is that he leaves completely hands free the operator. The paper describes a success case where the remote assistance SPE system has been a key factor in the commissioning activities in Syria for the site of Deir Ali. All activities are managed by AEN technicians in a remote office located in Beirut.
