Long ago we just put a small pump on the recirculation line and let it run. However, lower flow rate and energy-efficient fixtures in retrofit buildings have shown us that our hot water recirculation systems haven’t always worked as we hoped. This presentation will go through designs for small to large buildings to identify problems in the field and how to avoid them in the first place. Examples of designs that struggled will be shown, and solutions for all buildings will be discussed. The program will further discuss ASHRAE 90.1 and Legionella concerns.
