Disaster Purchasing: Local Government Life or Death - Part 1 (Room Mojave)

11 Jan 18
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Speaker(s): Michael Martinet
When disaster strikes a community, public agencies turn to the Federal government for assistance under FEMA’s Public Assistance program.    FEMA’s disaster grants come with incredibly stringent requirements with a broad range of purchasing regulations. Most organizations are unaware of these.  FEMA audits, which follow FEMA grants, may result in millions of dollars in losses to the agency.  This session will introduce attendees to the critical Federal regulations and explain how the rules affect local agencies.  Attendees will gain valuable insight and understand the tools available to achieve procurement compliance and avoid catastrophic audit findings years after the disaster.
