There was a time when swimming pools were simple and mostly similar. Those days are long gone. Modern swimming pools come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and have so much more going on structurally and aesthetically that those familiar with older pools look plain and primitive by comparison. Pools now come with vanishing edges, grottos, waterfalls, spillways, tanning shelves, bubblers, deck jets and spas - and their often-raised walls include scuppers, spouts and water bowls. These new features and configurations make lighting a swimming pool a much more complicated task than was the case a generation ago. What's more, with the advent of LED lighting technology the lights themselves are more advanced and small oenough to fit in spaces that weren't possible before. All of which has left many designers and engineers puzzled as to correct light placement and strategy. The class is meant to educate pool designers and builders on both lighting basics as well as advanced lighting concepts to illuminate the most complex pools with today's most advanced LED lights.
