C160 | Wi-Fi on the Bus: Best Practices in Hotspot Deployment (Room SOUTH 320A)

With the increase in one-to-one and the growing use of digital learning resources, many districts are installing Wi-Fi on school buses to allow students to do their homework during their daily commute and while traveling to sporting events and other school activities. Other districts are providing mobile hotspots to students without home internet access in an effort to bridge "the homework gap." In this session, Susan Bearden, who serves as both Project Director for CoSN’s Digital Equity Action Agenda and Project Manager for Google’s Rolling Study Halls, leads this best practices conversation about school bus Wi-Fi and hotspot deployment, including lessons learned from previous implementations, vendor selection, filtering, hotspot deployment, community partnerships, and funding.
